Bumper crashes in Lubeck kill two people and leave one critically injured.
The wreck occurred around 3:30 a.m.
Sunday near the intersection of Route 28 and Interstate 35.
Lubbocks fire department said two people died in the crash and one died at a hospital in critical condition.
The second victim is in critical but stable condition.
“I just remember looking down and seeing a lot of red and a lot more of smoke,” said James Jones, who lives in the area.
The wreck happened when Jones was driving north on I-35 when he saw a car stop on the side of the road, according to the Lubbons Fire Department.
Jones said the driver of the car was “very upset” about something and that the car’s driver pulled out of the highway and walked off.
Jones said he was in the passenger seat of the crashed car, which was stopped at a red light.
A second person was driving in the other car, but it was not immediately clear if they were passengers in the car or passengers in a car with Jones.
Lubeock Police said the crash remains under investigation.
