The new daily journal prompts readers to read and engage with more content on the BBC News website and mobile app.
The BBC News app will allow users to create their own custom pages and use the News app’s features to share them with friends and family, as well as viewing and sharing video clips from the BBC news app.
The news app is a digital companion to the BBC World Service.
It will also allow users on the latest BBC News channels to follow up on stories, news clips, videos and news alerts from their favourite sources.BBC News will be available on the desktop version of the News apps, the News smartphone app and the News website from October.
The News app and smartphone app were rolled out to UK-based BBC News outlets in April 2016.
The BBC has also been working with a number of publishers on digital features for the news apps, including BBC News Mobile, BBC News, BBC Sport and BBC Sport Plus, as part of the new news app, which is currently available in the US and Europe.
In addition, new apps will be coming to Apple TV and the new Apple TV Stick, and on the iPad, iPad Mini and iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.
BBC News in a box will be released to Apple and Android devices, with the BBC in a Box app set to be launched in April.
The new news apps are part of a wider programme of changes aimed at making the BBC’s online content more engaging, including a redesign of the BBC website, the launch of new news channels and the introduction of new video features on the News Channel.Read more
